Rene Daniella’s Eclectic L.A. Pad | Home and Texture House Tours
Today’s house tour features TV host, travel content creator and writer, Rene Daniella. Rene, a world traveler who’s been to over 65 countries and is now a travel host, made it her mission to turn her Los Angeles home into a work of art. Rene’s space is filled with conversation starters, including a breathtaking breakfast nook that she DIY’d with the help of her mother.Gone are the trendy, neutral themes, as this home is full of color, character, and charisma. But her viral Samsung frame T.V. was the perfect touch to combine current trends with the authentic artsy feel of her home. Feminine energy, decor, and a “clo-ffice”, Rene’s home is quite literally “owned by femme” (an ode to her online platforms!)

Contemporary Furniture Style
Contemporary furniture is subtle and urban in its appeal. It is born of more modern styles, such as Bauhaus and post-modern. While an offshoot of modern design, contemporary furniture has softer lines and deeper upholstery than its parent styles. Contemporary furniture has clean lines with soft edges. Chair legs and arms are simple, either square or round. Upholstery fabrics are either one solid color or have a subtle pattern. Contemporary tables have little if any ornate carvings. Inlaid patterns, if used, are geometric. Upholstered furniture is low to the ground with squared arms. The backs may be tufted with large, fabric-covered buttons.

Traditional Furniture Style
Traditional furniture offers elegance and romance and a touch of old-world design. It is associated with such styles as William and Mary, Queen Anne, Victorian and Chippendale. The styles call for ornate furnishings with elaborate carving and emphasis on motifs and signature looks. Traditional chairs boast such features as turned or cabriole legs, ball-and-claw feet or bun feet, arched backs and rolled arms. Table legs resemble matching chair legs, and tabletops often have ornately trimmed edges. Motifs such as pineapples or seashells may be included in carvings in the backs of chairs or tabletop inlays. Upholstered furnishings, such as sofas, often have wood trim and large, dominant footings.

House Tour: Colourful Paris apartment
Colombe Campana is a multi-talented woman, she's a finder of unique items, an accomplished ceramist, and, first of all, a fashion designer for the last 17 years. She has experience at Sonia Rykiel, Claudie Pierlot, & Other Stories, and, more recently, Tara Jarmon.
Currently, a mother of three is working on her own design brand 'Call It By Your Name'. Today we'll take a look at her colourful and chic Paris apartment and some of her handmade pieces.

Furniture Glossary: Chairs, Wingback Chair
Also called a wing chair, club chair, ear chair or grandfather chair. It's upholstered and has large "wings" mounted to the back reaching down to the arm rest. These were devised to block the head and upper half of the body from drafts and trap heat from a fireplace — where the chairs were often placed.

The variety of chair is typically small, high-backed and upholstered. It has a low seat and is found in bedrooms. Despite some claims that this chair's low-slung shape resembles that of a shoe, its name comes from its ideal stature for sitting to put on footwear. Its low legs are often concealed with a skirt.

Today AD is welcomed by Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad to tour their beautiful home in Brooklyn, New York. With multiple Grammys for Batiste’s album 'We Are' and Jaouad’s bestselling book, 'Between Two Kingdoms', this powerhouse couple wanted a home in which they could live and create simultaneously. After viewing close to 70 properties, it was an 1890s Brooklyn Italianate that finally felt like the One. Interior designer Hallie Goodman helped the couple create a soul-filled home, bringing together their Tunisian and New Orleanian roots in what they’ve penned the “Tunisiana” style. But what truly brought their home together was a wedding ceremony–mid-renovation, upon the return of Suleika’s leukemia, the couple tied the knot in their living room. And after a lengthy hospital stay spent scouring the web for thrifted treasures, Batiste and Jaouad’s home was finally ready for a proper homecoming. “I entered the hospital in winter. The day I was discharged was sunny and fully spring. I was weak, in need of a walker to get around, but I was so happy and relieved. As Jon and I made our way through the house, I had tears in my eyes—not just because it far exceeded our expectations. We had finally made it home.”

Furniture Glossary: Chairs, Side Chair
This style has a straight-back and features no arms. It is typically used as a dining room chair for the sides of the dining room table. It can also be used as an occasional table in a living room or bedroom. The seat of an arm chair can be upholstered or not.
