The centerpiece of this chair is the curved, rounded lyre arm which resembles the shape of lyre — an ancient stringed musical instrument. Its origin is from the Greek Classical period (starting circa 1700 AD). A lyre chair features a splat that is made of single lyre scrolls. The wood can be intricate or simple in design. The seats are mostly wood.
